The Hossack is conveniently located in the centre of the South Island of New Zealand's high country. A scenic 90 minute drive from Christchurch International Airport delivers you to this pristine part of New Zealand.
Some of New Zealand's finest wild and free range big game hunting for red stag, chamois, fallow and boar can be found at the Hossack. Local rivers produce salmon and trout (rainbow and brown). Canadian geese and paradise duck are also plentiful.
The Hossack's wild and free range hunting is complimented by a large game park which provides hunters with a true test of their hunting skills. Massive red stags, New Zealand wapiti, bull elk and huge fallow bucks roam the game park together with chamois, rams and boar. Horseback hunting and hunting wild boar with dogs is also available.
The Hossack is a 24,000 acre high country station dating back to 1852. It continues to muster its cattle by horseback and shear its sheep with blade shears.
The Hossack is located near to the vibrant mountain village of Hanmer Springs which is famous for its thermal pools complex and numerous tourist activities including jet boating, bungy jumping, mountain hiking and biking and horse trekking. Quality accommodation options for hunters and non hunters are many and varied. These include a choice of relaxing with us at the Hossack's clean and comfortable ranch accommodation from where you hear the stags roaring in the rut and the early morning and late evening native birdsong, or at nearby first class accommodation and 5 star accommodation
Bull tahr are an impressive alpine game animal and can be hunted on a nearby high country station. Heli-hunting of New Zealand's alpine game animals (buck chamois and bull tahr) is very popular although the use of helicopters is not essential. We can arrange heli-hunts if required. However the Hossack's professional hunting guides will locate your game animals on the Hossack using 4-wheel drive Toyota Landcruisers and some good old-fashioned walking and stalking!
We invite you to visit us at the Hossack and enjoy the look and feel of a well established New Zealand high country station, experience excellent hunting in a variety of terrain and experience the hospitality New Zealand is world famous for.

“Where in the world can a hunting client take a wild 14 point stag, hunt giant chamois buck, and harvest two rare Canterbury blue wild pigs, just two hours from an international airport. There is such a place. It is called The Hossack: just north of Christchurch:NZ, and I have just returned from the amazing adventure listed above. Thanks John and Jeremy: What a place!”

"The Hossack Station is some of the best and most beautiful country I have had the pleasure to hunt.
After losing my confidence from a bad experience some years back, my beautiful wife chose to shout me a guided management hunt on The Hossack Station for my birthday. In all my years of hunting I had never taken a boar in the wild with a rifle without the help of dogs, I am a very fussy meat shooter and not after a trophy so a plan was made with John and Peter and they really went out of their way to make anything possible for me."
